Monique’s journey is one rooted in leadership, service, faith, and a deep commitment to helping others grow.
Originally from Philadelphia and now proudly calling Atlanta home, Monique has built a career shaped by discipline, excellence, and impact. She served four years in the United States Air Force, with opportunities to live both across the United States and abroad in Greece and Germany. These experiences gave her a broader perspective and improved her adaptability.
Over the years, she worked across multiple industries, including telecommunications, hospitality, human resources, and customer service, before spending nearly 20 years with one of the largest utility companies in the southeastern United States.
Retirement in 2023 was not the end of her journey but was the beginning of a new assignment.
While figuring out her next chapter, Monique founded The Carter Group, a company dedicated to helping small and minority-owned businesses build the strategy, credibility, and relationships needed to confidently pursue corporate opportunities.
What inspired Monique to join Belle Sisters was initially her connection with the founder, Masi, through a women entrepreneurs program. Over time, as she watched the community grow, joining as a Founding Member became an easy decision. Her passion for supporting women in business and entrepreneurship aligned naturally with the vision of the sisterhood.
One of Monique’s proudest achievements has been creating her pilot course, Securing Corporate Contracts: Building Relationships, Not Marriages at First Sight. The course teaches entrepreneurs how to strategically position and pitch their businesses to major corporations without rushing the process. One defining moment came when a participant secured a multi-year contract with a Fortune 500 company after pitching during the course.
For Monique, that moment represented more than success; it reflected the true mission behind her work: helping entrepreneurs create revenue, opportunities, and generational wealth.
Like many entrepreneurs, she has also faced disappointment. Earlier this year, she experienced the challenge of not having enough registrations for one of her courses. While difficult, she leaned on her faith and chose to trust that every setback carries purpose. Rather than giving up, she continues to believe that the right opportunities and timing will align.
How she defines success:
Success, for Monique, is walking fully in the assignment God has for her in this season. She believes her purpose is to equip entrepreneurs, especially minorities, with the knowledge and access needed to pursue corporate contracts and larger opportunities.
Her advice to Belle Sisters:
Know that you are called to what you are building. Entrepreneurship can be difficult, but when you are aligned with purpose, God provides what you need. She also encourages women to embrace “sabbatical moments”, intentional times of rest and renewal.
A life lesson she lives by:
Not every good thing is a God thing. Be intentional about what you say yes to, protect your peace, and avoid burnout by aligning your commitments with your true purpose.
Beyond business, Monique remains deeply involved in her community, church, and volunteer work. She also enjoys golf, traveling to sunny destinations, and immersing herself in the arts through museums, plays, and musicals.
Monique’s story reminds us that purpose doesn’t end with one career chapter; sometimes it begins there.
